The following is sourced from Sotheby’s: Edmund Physick (1726-1804) an Englishman, was Receiver General and Keeper of the Great Seal of the province of Pennsylvania. After the Revolution, he remained as attorney and confidential agent for the Penns. His major concern was the handling of sales of proprietary lands. Physick and his wife, Abigail Syng, were the parents of the noted physician, Philip Syng Physick
