Two French Carved Triptych Figures, figure of Henri IV, his hinged jacket opening to reveal a battle scene, inscribed “HENRI.IV” and “La Rue Louis”, height 11 1/8 inches; along with a figure of Elizabeth I, her hinged skirt opening to reveal Elizabeth I at Tillbury camp, inscribed “Elizabeth Au Camp De Tilibury” and “La Rue Louis”, 10 3/4 inches. Provenance: Sotheby’s New York, 3-4 December 1976, lots 257 and 258.
