European Inlaid Slant front Desk, burl walnut having inlaid and bone inlaid leaves, flowers, and figures, front opening to fitted interior. height 41 inches, width 43 1/2 inches, depth 24 1/4 inches, Provenance: Inside on typed paper says once owned by Dr. Richard Beryl, Imperial Counsellor at the Austrian court, and by him bequeathed to his son, Dr. Richard Beryl, Jr., who was travelling in America at the time of his father’s death. The son ordered the desk sold by the American Art Galleries in 1913 Jan. where it was bought by George T. Bishop. It is presumably English or Dutch, c. 1700.
